SpeedEye: Intelligent IR-Based Highway Speed Monitoring System

SpeedEye is a smart and reliable speed detection system designed for highway traffic monitoring using Infrared (IR) sensors and Arduino. The system uses two IR sensors placed at a fixed distance to detect the time taken by a vehicle to travel between them. Using this time and the known distance, the Arduino calculates the vehicle's speed.

If the calculated speed exceeds a predefined speed limit, the system triggers an alert using a buzzer and displays the vehicle speed on an LCD screen. Optionally, the system can be enhanced to log data or send alerts via GSM or IoT platforms.

This project provides an efficient, cost-effective alternative to expensive radar-based systems for speed monitoring and is ideal for smart traffic control, school zones, and accident-prone highway areas.
