This project introduces an automated smart dustbin designed to segregate wet and dry waste at the point of disposal, contributing to a cleaner environment and efficient recycling processes. The system utilizes a combination of sensors—such as moisture sensors, IR sensors, and ultrasonic sensors—to detect the type and presence of waste.

Upon detecting the waste, the system classifies it as either wet (organic) or dry (inorganic) and activates a corresponding mechanical sorting mechanism (such as a flap or conveyor system) to direct the waste into the correct compartment.

Powered by an Arduino microcontroller, this smart dustbin operates autonomously and can optionally include features such as LCD display, Bluetooth or IoT monitoring, and full-bin alerts. This project promotes eco-conscious behavior, reduces manual sorting efforts, and supports sustainable waste management practices.
