CrossSafe is a fully autonomous road crossing alert system designed to enhance pedestrian safety using intelligent sensing and wireless communication. The system is built using two Arduino boards, each paired with an ESP-01 Wi-Fi module, to enable seamless communication between pedestrian detection zones and the alert signaling unit.
PIR sensors are deployed at both sides of a road to detect human movement near crossing areas. When a pedestrian is detected, the local Arduino sends a signal wirelessly via ESP-01 to the remote side, where signal LEDs (Red/Green) and an LCD display alert incoming vehicles and pedestrians about crossing activity.
The system works without any human intervention, making it ideal for busy or blind corners where manual signal systems are inefficient. It promotes smart city infrastructure by using wireless, low-power modules for real-time communication and quick response to human presence.
This project demonstrates a cost-effective, scalable solution for smart traffic systems using IoT principles and embedded systems.
